Tripura-Born Artist Radha Binod Sharma Earns Global Recognition as Ambassador for The Art of Elysium

Agartala, June 10, 2026: Internationally acclaimed artist Radha Binod Sharma, whose roots lie in Kamalpur of Tripura, has added another significant achievement to his illustrious career by being selected for the prestigious 2026 The People’s Artist campaign and appointed as an ambassador for The Art of Elysium, an internationally renowned non-profit arts organisation presented by Hollywood actor Johnny Depp.

The campaign honours artists whose creative work inspires compassion, innovation and meaningful social impact. As an ambassador, Sharma will contribute to the organisation’s global mission of promoting the philosophy that “Art Heals,” supporting creative initiatives in children’s hospitals, elder-care homes, special-needs schools, homeless communities and other underserved sections of society.

The organisation praised Sharma and fellow selected artists for encouraging individuals to embrace creativity as a force for positive change and for helping build a more compassionate and connected world through artistic expression.

Born in Tripura, Sharma has established a distinguished international career spanning over three decades. His journey to global recognition began with the Kanoria Studio Fellowship in 1991, followed by the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant from Canada in 1992. He later received the Charles Wallace Trust Grant and secured the prestigious year-long Delfina Studio Residency in London in 1994, eventually making the United Kingdom his base.

His artworks have been showcased across the world and featured in auctions conducted by leading international houses, including Sotheby’s, Roseberys and Osian’s.

Apart from his artistic accomplishments, Sharma founded the India-UK Arts and Media Foundation in 2009 and has played a pivotal role in fostering cultural exchange and community-focused artistic initiatives. In 2025, he was honoured with the London Award of Excellence at the House of Lords for his outstanding contributions to art, mentorship and international cultural engagement.

His latest international appointment is being viewed as a proud moment for Tripura, highlighting the growing global influence of artists from the state.
