Tripura CM – Dr Manik Saha Expresses Hope To Construct Stadiums In 8 Districts

Agartala, July 18, 2022 : Tripura Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Sunday expressed his desire to build one stadium in each district of the state with an aim to boost up the youths to get involved in games and sports.

While inaugurating Cricket Players Hostel at the premises of MBB stadium here in Agartala city, Dr Saha said that the state government has taken various steps to improve the quality of sports and improved sports infrastructure and state-of-the-art training are being provided so that the children of the state can achieve success in various sports at the national level.

He said “Tripura Cricket Association has proved by building the Cricket Players Hostel that anything can be done if there is goodwill and a strong mindset to work. The current state government is determined to take sports to a special place. For that purpose, the government is working to build advanced sports infrastructure and training centers in different parts of the state. He also said that synthetic football turf has been installed in Chandrapur of Udaipur sub-division with the combined efforts of the state government and Sports department. Another synthetic football turf installation will begin in Khowai district under the ‘Khelo India’ programme and an amount of Rs 5 crore has been spent for this. Apart from this, the construction of a swimming pool at a cost of about Rs 5 crore will be started soon under the Panisagar ‘Khelo India’ programme.

“Construction of a 200-seater youth hostel is in progress at Ambassa and about Rs 10 crore 37 lakh rupees are being spent on this project. Construction of a 100-seater boys’ hostel is underway at the Regional Physical Education Institute at Panisagar in North Tripura district. The cost of this project is about Rs 4 crore 69 lakh. Three synthetic tennis courts have already been constructed at the Badharghat Dashrathdev Sports Complex while 206 coaching centers have been started in different blocks, subdivisions and districts of the state. Currently 615 physical education teachers in 16 different departments are training in these coaching centers. Moreover, a swimming pool has been opened in Fishery College in Lembucherra and union minister of state for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Shobha Karandlaje inaugurated this swimming pool”, he added.

The Chief Minister expressed his desire to build one stadium in each district of the state. He said that the construction of the stadium in Dharmanagar has been completed and is now awaiting inauguration. The chief minister expressed the desire that the quality of cricket in Tripura will go a long way in the future. Besides, the players of the state will give their best to shine the name of Tripura.

Tripura Cricket Association President Tapan Lodh, Vice-President Joylal Das, Treasurer Tapas Ghosh also spoke on the occasion. Tripura Cricket Association Joint Secretary Kishore Kumar Das delivered the welcome address on the occasion.
