Agartala, May 14, 2026: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote austerity amid rising oil prices and global economic pressures, Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has directed a reduction in the number of vehicles in his official convoy from tomorrow onwards.
According to reliable sources, immediately after returning to Tripura from Assam on Wednesday, the Chief Minister Dr Saha issued instructions to State Director General of Police Anurag regarding the matter.
As per the new directive, the convoy accompanying the Chief Minister will now consist of only three vehicles apart from the Chief Minister’s own car. The decision is being viewed as an effort to streamline VIP movement and minimize public inconvenience caused by long convoys on roads.
Sources said the revised arrangement will come into effect immediately from Thursday. The move has already drawn attention in political and administrative circles, with many viewing it as a message in favour of simplicity and efficient governance.
Officials are expected to make the necessary adjustments to the Chief Minister’s security and movement protocol in accordance with the new instruction.
