Agartala, May 16, 2026: Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday assured the public that Tripura has adequate fuel reserves and urged people not to panic or purchase petrol and diesel beyond their actual requirements. He also appealed to citizens to avoid creating unnecessarily long queues at petrol pumps across the state.
Addressing concerns over the sudden rush at fuel stations, the Chief Minister stated that there is no shortage of fuel in the state and that the overall situation remains completely normal. He emphasized that people should buy only the amount of fuel they genuinely need instead of stockpiling out of fear following the recent hike in fuel prices.
“There is no fuel shortage in the state. The situation remains completely normal. Therefore, there is no need to panic and purchase excessive fuel. Take only as much as you require,” the Chief Minister said.
Since Friday, long queues have been witnessed at several petrol pumps in different parts of the state as people rushed to refill tanks and store additional fuel amid concerns over rising prices. The unexpected crowding has caused considerable inconvenience to regular consumers and commuters.
Meanwhile, Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury also clarified that the state currently has sufficient fuel stock and that supplies are functioning normally. He pointed out that unnecessary panic buying by a section of people has led to overcrowding at fuel stations, thereby creating avoidable complications.
The government has appealed to the public to remain calm, avoid rumours, and cooperate in maintaining normalcy so that fuel distribution can continue smoothly without disruption.
