Agartala, June 08, 2026: In a significant step towards enhancing farmer support services, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Sunday announced the launch of a Kisan Helpline Centre at the State Horticulture Research Centre in Nagichhara, Agartala.
The initiative aims to provide farmers with timely agricultural advice, extension services, and an efficient grievance redressal mechanism. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister highlighted that the ‘Kisan Call Centre’ was originally introduced in 2004 as a Central Government initiative to offer expert guidance to farmers. In 2026, the programme was expanded and rechristened as the ‘Kisan Helpline Centre’ to strengthen outreach and integrate grievance redressal with advisory services.
Farmers can access the services by dialling the toll-free number 1800-180-1551. The helpline network currently operates through 22 centres across the country with a combined capacity of 450 seats, functioning under the supervision of the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
The Agartala centre will cater to farmers from Tripura, Mizoram, and Meghalaya and will remain operational daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, including Sundays and public holidays.
Explaining the grievance redressal process, the Minister stated that complaints received at the centre are first examined by the supervisor. If required, they are escalated to the concerned Section Officer, Grievance Officer, or Under Secretary of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare. Once resolved, the matter is routed back to the helpline centre for final closure after obtaining feedback from the concerned farmer.
He further noted that the centre is equipped with modern call management and analytics systems. Detailed call data records, including call ID, duration, status, and timestamps, are maintained for each interaction.
The Minister expressed confidence that the technology-driven Kisan Helpline Centre in Agartala will serve as an effective bridge between farmers, agricultural experts, and the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, ensuring improved service delivery and timely resolution of farmers’ concerns.
