Agartala, May 13, 2026: An expanded meeting of the Governing Body of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti (RKS) of Agartala Government Medical College (AGMC) and GBP Hospital was convened on Tuesday at the seminar hall of the hospital to discuss key healthcare initiatives and approve the budget for the upcoming financial year.
The meeting was presided over by RKS Chairperson and MLA Mina Rani Sarkar. Among those present were Health Secretary Kiran Gitte, Director of Health Services Dr. Debashree Debbarma, AGMC Principal Dr. Tapan Majumder, and Medical Superintendent and Head of Department Dr. Bidhan Goswami, along with councillors and other members of the committee.
During the meeting, the Governing Body unanimously approved a budget of nearly Rs 28 crore for the 2026–27 financial year. The committee also resolved to enhance the honorarium of contractual employees engaged under the Rogi Kalyan Samiti by 3 percent.
The approved budget includes allocations for the purchase of advanced medical equipment and the strengthening of diagnostic services aimed at improving patient care at the hospital. The committee further decided to continue all existing patient welfare schemes in the coming financial year without any disruption.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Bidhan Goswami later confirmed the decisions adopted during the meeting.
