Agartala, May 15, 2026: Alleging a sharp rise in violence and political unrest in the Takarjala Assembly Constituency, a delegation of the Tipra Motha Party on Friday approached Tripura Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag and sought immediate steps to restore law and order in the area.

The delegation, headed by MLA Biswajit Kalai along with MDC Suraj Debbarma, submitted a memorandum highlighting a series of alleged violent incidents that reportedly took place during and after the TTAADC General Election 2026.

According to the party leaders, residents of several areas under Takarjala and Jampuijala have been living under fear due to repeated incidents of bomb attacks, armed assaults, and intimidation.

The memorandum referred to an alleged attack on April 10 near the residence of BJP candidate and Mandal President Nirmal Debbarma, where Tipra Motha supporters were reportedly assaulted with firearms and sharp weapons. The incident allegedly left multiple people injured, including the Sepahijala district Superintendent of Police.

The delegation claimed that no major breakthrough has been achieved in the investigation so far and alleged that the absence of significant arrests has raised questions over the neutrality of police action.

The party further alleged that on the night of May 9, four bomb explosions occurred at different locations in Takarjala and Jampuijala, allegedly targeting the residences of Tipra Motha supporters. In another incident, a member of the Youth Tipra Federation was allegedly fired upon by unidentified attackers.

Raising concern over the recurring incidents, the leaders accused certain BJP workers of involvement in the violence and alleged that political influence was affecting fair investigation and police action. They also claimed that some accused individuals were being sheltered in Agartala.

Demanding stronger security measures, the delegation urged the police administration to increase patrolling in vulnerable areas, deploy additional security personnel in sensitive zones, and form a special task force to identify and arrest those involved in the attacks.

The Tipra Motha leaders also assured the police administration of their cooperation in maintaining peace and stability in the constituency.
