Agartala, April 09, 2026: Vehicle retail sales in Tripura registered an overall decline of 10.16 percent in FY’26 compared to the previous financial year, according to the latest data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA). The report shows that while passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle sales recorded growth, major segments such as two-wheelers and three-wheelers witnessed a noticeable drop.
As per the data, total vehicle retail in Tripura stood at 55,681 units in FY’26, down from 61,980 units in FY’25. Two-wheeler sales, which form the largest segment of the state’s automobile market, declined by 12.26 percent, with 34,790 units sold against 39,650 units in the previous year. Three-wheeler sales also fell sharply by 15.94 percent, reaching 11,393 units compared to 13,553 units in FY’25.
In contrast, commercial vehicle sales increased by 12.30 percent, with 2,875 units sold during FY’26 against 2,560 units in FY’25. Passenger vehicle sales also recorded a 5.99 percent rise, reaching 6,339 units compared to 5,981 units last year. Construction equipment sales grew by 19 percent, while tractor sales showed the highest growth at 40 percent, though the volume remained limited.
For March 2026 alone, Tripura recorded a 4.46 percent fall in overall vehicle retail, with 4,844 units sold against 5,070 units in March last year. Passenger vehicles remained a bright spot during the month, registering a 12.15 percent increase with 674 units sold, while two-wheelers and three-wheelers continued to decline marginally and sharply respectively.
The FADA report indicates that despite growth in selected segments, weak demand in two-wheelers and three-wheelers significantly impacted Tripura’s overall automobile retail performance during the financial year.
