Rajasthan Royals captain Riyan Parag has been appointed vice-captain of the India A squad for the upcoming ODI tri-series in Sri Lanka, beginning June 9 in Dambulla. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the 15-member squad on Thursday, with Tilak Varma named captain.

Parag’s Royals teammates Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yudhvir Singh have also earned places in the side. The tri-series will feature India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A, with each team facing the others twice before the top two advance to the final on June 21. All matches will be staged at the Dambulla venue.

Parag, who is currently leading Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2026 season, brings considerable experience to the squad. He has played 55 List A matches, amassing 1,947 runs at an average of 41.42 and a strike rate of 104.06. Vaibhav, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the most exciting young talents. He averages 44.12 in eight List A games with a blistering strike rate of 164.95. His standout performance came in the Rising Stars Asia Cup last year, where he smashed 144 off just 42 balls against the UAE, becoming the youngest player to score a century for a national representative side. His IPL form this season has been equally impressive, with 440 runs in 11 matches, including a century and two fifties.

Yudhvir Singh adds depth to the bowling attack, having taken 28 wickets in 23 List A matches. His best figures of 4/54 were recorded in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022-23 for Jammu and Kashmir against Nagaland.

Following the tri-series, India A will remain in Sri Lanka to play two multi-day matches against the hosts in Galle, with the red-ball squad to be announced separately.
