A 12-hour total shutdown called by the Zomi Frontal Organisation began early this morning, protesting the continued absence of justice in the case of late MLA Vungzagin Valte.

The shutdown has received support from various civil society and student organisations, including the Hmar Students’ Association and the Kuki Students’ Organisation.

Normal life was severely affected, with shops, business establishments, educational institutions, and marketplaces remaining closed, giving deserted looks across several areas. Shutdown supporters were also seen burning tyres on some major roads.

However, no untoward incidents have been reported so far.
