Agartala, May 30, 2026: Tripura Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Saturday said that the “Double Engine” BJP government at the Centre and in the State is giving the highest priority to women’s empowerment, enabling a large number of women to become self-reliant in different sectors.
Addressing a Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha workers’ conference held at the premises of Birendranagar School under the Majlishpur Assembly constituency, the minister highlighted various initiatives undertaken by the government for the welfare and empowerment of women.
“The Double Engine government is working with utmost priority on women’s empowerment. As a result, a large section of our mothers and sisters has been able to attain self-reliance in various fields,” Chowdhury said while addressing the gathering.

“Witnessing the spontaneous enthusiasm and spirit of our Matrishakti at today’s conference, I am convinced that despite all attempts by malicious elements to mislead the people, public faith and confidence in the Double Engine government remain strong and unwavering,” he remarked.
The programme was attended by Agartala Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Majlishpur Mandal President Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, and several leaders and office-bearers of the BJP Mahila Morcha.
