Agartala, October 21, 2022 : On the occasion of “Police Commemoration Day”, Tripura Chief Minister Prof Dr Manik Saha on Friday paid tribute to 264 personnel of state police and security forces, who lost their lives in the line of duty from September 01, 2021 to August 31, 2022.
Speaking in the event at Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium, Police Lines, Arundhatinagar here in Agartala city on Friday morning, Dr Saha said “The government will always stand by the families of our brave soldiers who have sacrificed their lives while protecting the country’s sovereignty. In our society, police are essential as they are engaged in protecting people’s life and property round the clock. The Chinese army martyred many Indian soldiers in an ambush at Ladakh on this day in 1959. To commemorate this day, Police Memorial Day is observed.
He said “In last one year, 264 personnel of police and security forces have been martyred while on duty in the country. Among them, Inspector Satyajit Mallick, in-charge of the state police, was martyred while performing his duties at the workplace in Khowai district of the state.” He said that the contribution of Martyr Satyajit Mallick can never be forgotten.
Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan and other senior police officers also paid tributes.
