Adi Community Marks Donggin Festival With Celebrations Of Tradition and Unity

The Adi community celebrated the Donggin festival on Sunday with a vibrant display of cultural pride and unity, reaffirming their commitment to preserving their rich heritage.

Donggin Abo Hanggung Yaying, a prominent figure in the celebrations, called on the younger generation to take an active role in maintaining the festival’s traditions. He emphasized that the preservation of their unique culture is vital for the community’s identity.

Akeng Nijo, General Secretary of SFCCICR, echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of unity and cultural preservation. He remarked, “Loss of culture is loss of identity,” highlighting the need for collective efforts to safeguard the Adi traditions.

Tai Paming, Advisor to the Donggin Festival Celebration, Itanagar, urged the community to prioritize cultural values over religious divisions during the festival. He called on the Adis to support the festival’s success and uphold their cultural practices without compromise.

The festivities kicked off with a series of sports competitions, including futsal, badminton, and volleyball. Cultural dance performances from various Rachengs added to the vibrant atmosphere of the event.

The celebration was further marked by speeches from prominent leaders, including Mame Garu, President of SFCCICR, who delivered the welcome address, and Tanil Gaduk, General Secretary of DFCCICR, who offered a vote of thanks.
