Former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of two cabin crew members from the state who perished in the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad on June 12.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh said, “It is heartbreaking to share that two young cabin crew members from Manipur, Kongrabailatpam Nganthoi Sharma and Lamnunthem Singson, were among those who lost their lives in the Air India crash in Ahmedabad.”
The tragic incident occurred shortly after the Boeing 787-8 aircraft, operating London-bound flight AI 171, took off from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. Air India confirmed that all 241 people onboard — 230 passengers and 11 other crew members — were killed in the crash.
Biren Singh paid tribute to the deceased crew members, stating, “Both were full of life, serving with dedication and pride. Their sudden passing is a huge loss for their families, friends, and for all of us back home. May their souls rest in peace and may their loved ones find the strength to get through this unimaginable pain.”
