Agartala, January 8, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday attended a blood donation camp at Agartala Government Nursing College, IGM Hospital, where he lauded the state’s strides in healthcare under the BJP-led government.

Speaking at the Florence Nightingale Auditorium in Agartala, Dr. Saha said patients in Tripura no longer need to travel outside the state for advanced treatment. He cited the upcoming ₹250 crore super-speciality block at GB Hospital, designed in corporate style, as a milestone project.

The chief minister noted that inspectors visiting Tripura’s Dental College often acknowledge its facilities surpass those in their own institutions. He further announced that the DONER Ministry has approved a dedicated Mother and Child unit at IGM Hospital, while a 100-bed tertiary eye hospital is being set up near ILS Hospital, attached to Agartala Government Medical College.

Dr. Saha revealed that ₹75 crore has been sanctioned for each of the proposed Homeopathic and Ayurvedic colleges, with land already earmarked. “These initiatives reflect our commitment to strengthening medical infrastructure across Tripura,” he said.

Beyond healthcare, the chief minister unveiled a heritage five-star hotel project in collaboration with the TATA group at the erstwhile Pushpavanta Palace. The project is expected to attract foreign tourists, generate 200 direct jobs, and be supported by four new flyovers to ease traffic congestion in Agartala.

On employment, Dr. Saha emphasized the introduction of the PRTC system to prioritize local candidates in government jobs. He accused the opposition of spreading “false rumours” about outsiders filling posts and reminded them of the plight of 10,323 terminated teachers, blaming the previous government for their fate.

Addressing tribal development, Dr. Saha credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for initiatives that have empowered tribal communities nationwide. He cited President Droupadi Murmu and former Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma’s appointment as Governor of Telangana as examples, while noting that several tribal individuals from Tripura have recently received Padma Shri awards—an unprecedented achievement for the state.

Taking aim at the opposition, he said citizens are no longer swayed by “rotten words” and can see the state’s progress for themselves. He pledged to build a “new Tripura” through collective effort and inclusive development.

Concluding his address, Dr. Saha thanked the blood donors, stressing that “blood has no caste or religion” and urging citizens to contribute so that state blood banks remain adequately stocked.
