Agartala, February 07, 2026: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday emphasized the crucial role of NGOs in shaping the next generation into responsible citizens. Addressing a meeting with representatives of tribal NGOs in Agartala, he said voluntary organizations must encourage children to work for society and instill values beyond politics.

Dr. Saha praised the dedication of NGO members, noting their efforts in supporting children in hostels and nurturing them with proper education and moral values. “You are giving them a platform. Alongside academic learning, they must be taught human values and social responsibility,” he remarked. He assured that the government would extend support within its means and promised to discuss the NGOs’ demands with the Tribal Welfare Minister and officials.

Highlighting the importance of civic responsibility, the Chief Minister said, “Social work is not limited to politics. Our President Droupadi Murmu, herself from a tribal background, is serving the nation with dedication. Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks of a developed India by 2047, and today’s students will play a vital role in achieving that vision.” He added that Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a clean India is being realized, but cleanliness requires collective effort.

Dr. Saha described education as a bridge from darkness to light, stressing its role in imparting truth, knowledge, and values. He pointed out that India has nearly 700 tribal groups, including 19 recognized in Tripura, along with several sub-groups.

Representatives from NGOs across the state attended the meeting, where the Chief Minister offered valuable guidance and reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting their initiatives for the welfare of future generations.
