Agartala, March 05, 2026: Emphasising swift medical response for road accident victims, Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Thursday chaired a high-level review meeting to ensure effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Rahat Schemein the state.
The scheme guarantees cashless medical services up to Rs. 1.5 lakh per road accident victim, aimed at saving lives through timely hospitalisation and coordinated emergency response.
Addressing officials after the meeting, the Minister said, “In the context of effective implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Rahat Scheme, which provides guaranteed medical services up to a maximum of Rs. 1.5 lakh per victim, we are focusing on quickly taking road accident victims to hospitals through the ‘PM Rahat’ scheme.”
He informed that the review meeting was attended by the Secretary of the Health and Transport Departments, the DIG of the Defence Department and other senior officials of the concerned departments.
“I chaired an important review meeting today to assess the overall preparedness of the state, review various operational issues and ensure better coordination between the concerned departments so that no accident victim is deprived of timely treatment,” Chowdhury said.
The Minister stressed that seamless coordination between the Transport, Health and law enforcement agencies is crucial for the successful implementation of the scheme. He directed officials to strengthen emergency response mechanisms, streamline hospital admission procedures and create public awareness about the benefits of the scheme.
Officials present in the meeting assured that necessary steps would be taken to enhance coordination and ensure that the benefits of #PMRahat reach every eligible road accident victim in the state without delay.
