Agartala, March 21, 2026: Reaffirming the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to coalition politics, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Saturday said that the party will never violate the “dharma” or principles of its alliance with Tipra Motha and will move forward while maintaining the dignity of the partnership.

Speaking to reporters after attending a special organisational training camp at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel in Agartala, the Chief Minister said, “We respect the ethos of the alliance and will abide by it. I have said this before, and I maintain the same stance now.”

The remarks come ahead of the upcoming elections to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC), where seat-sharing between the BJP and Tipra Motha remains under discussion.

On being asked about the number of seats each party would contest, Dr. Saha clarified that no final decision has been taken yet. “Our top leadership in Delhi is currently examining the matter. They will decide how and under what formula the election will be contested,” he said.

The training camp was attended by BJP National Secretary Vinod Sonkar, state BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, along with several ministers, MLAs, and members of the state committee.

Highlighting the focus of the camp, the Chief Minister said discussions were held on the upcoming Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls (SIR), which is set to begin in the state soon. He assured that individuals whose guardians’ names are already listed in the voter rolls need not worry and only have to fill out a single form.

Describing the revision process as crucial, Dr. Saha said it aims to ensure a clean and accurate electoral roll. “Our state is surrounded by Bangladesh on three sides; therefore, this process is of paramount importance to us,” he added.

He further noted that the training camps are being organised to prepare party workers so that genuine voters do not face any inconvenience during the revision process.
