Convenor of the Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), Y.K. Dhiren, on Saturday alleged that certain individuals are deliberately attempting to sabotage the ongoing people’s democratic movement in the state.

Speaking to reporters at the COCOMI office in Lamphel, Dhiren said the rally held earlier in the day was conducted as announced, aimed at submitting a memorandum to the Chief Minister with seven key questions. He said people from across the state participated in large numbers to voice their concerns.

Dhiren stated that a COCOMI delegation successfully submitted the memorandum at the Chief Minister’s office, and the update was conveyed to the gathering through a public address system, following which the rally concluded. However, he asserted that COCOMI will not engage in talks with the government until responses to the questions are received.

Refuting claims that COCOMI representatives withdrew midway from the rally, he termed such allegations as false and misleading, and accused certain groups of spreading rumours to defame the organisation and undermine the movement.

He further alleged that one member of the organisation was assaulted during the rally. Appealing for public vigilance, Dhiren urged people not to be influenced by what he described as anti-people elements, and said COCOMI would identify those involved in spreading misinformation and disrupting the movement.
