Security forces recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) and a cache of arms, ammunition and explosives during separate operations conducted in Bishnupur district on May 11 and 12.

On May 11, security forces recovered an IED from Tronglaobi Maning Gurukhana area under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district. The recovered items included a wireless control relay switch with five batteries, six plastic pouches containing gunpowder, 12.75 metres of red wire, 33.87 metres of safety fuse wire, two detonators and 208 cm of white electric wire.

In another operation on May 12, security forces recovered a large quantity of arms and explosives from Loktak Mapal near Keipha Road under Moirang Police Station. The seized items included a bolt action rifle, a 9 mm pistol with magazine, a 2-inch mortar shell, four HE-36 hand grenades, two smoke grenades, an improvised rocket mortar, three gelatin sticks, anti-aircraft ammunition, 28 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, five ballistic cartridges, two stun grenades, a 2-inch Para Illumination bomb, two shotgun shells, a Baofeng radio set and two bulletproof plates.

On the same day, security forces also recovered arms and explosives from Laisoi area under Keibul Lamjao Police Station in Bishnupur district. The recovered items included two bolt action rifles, a country-made 9 mm pistol, a 2-inch rifle, a rocket mortar, two IEDs weighing around four kilograms each, four HE-36 hand grenades, a Chinese hand grenade, 30 rounds of ammunition of different calibres, six helmets, six bulletproof jackets, six bulletproof plates, three magazines of different arms, a Pompi mortar shell, 12 bore ammunition, five Baofeng handsets with charger, a telescopic sight, five gelatin sticks, a Para bomb, a detonator, two 2-inch mortar shells, one 51 mm mortar shell, five tube launching rounds, three tube launching tubes with one ring and two signal cartridges.
