Shillong, May 30: Meghalaya Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Wailadmiki Shylla on Saturday reiterated the government’s zero tolerance stance against misconduct involving women athletes.
Responding to allegations of sexual harassment faced by women cricketers and claims that former officials of the Meghalaya Cricket Association failed to act on complaints, Shylla emphasized that the administration is determined to prevent such incidents in cricket or any other sporting body.
He noted that the government will await the outcome of the ongoing inquiry before issuing further comments. The Meghalaya Cricket Association has already set up an internal inquiry, while the Meghalaya State Commission for Women has sought clarification on the matter.
