Itanagar, Jan 9: A group of students and teachers from Government Higher Secondary School, Mechukha, Arunachal Pradesh, interacted with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan as part of their National Integration Tour, officials said.
The tour, scheduled from January 5 to 16, covers Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Itanagar, and aims to familiarise students from remote border areas with key national institutions, landmarks and cultural heritage. During the interaction, President Murmu encouraged the students to pursue excellence, remain rooted in values and contribute to nation-building.
As part of the programme, the group also visited Parliament House, where they met Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju. Rijiju spoke to the students about the importance of constitutional values, discipline and active participation in nation-building.
The students were taken on a guided tour of Parliament, where they were introduced to its history, architecture and legislative functioning. Officials said the exposure helped deepen the students’ understanding of democratic governance and India’s unity in diversity.
The National Integration Tour is intended to promote national awareness and emotional integration among youth from remote regions such as Mechukha in Arunachal Pradesh.
