NSCN-IM Cadre Surrenders Before Security Forces In Arunachal’s Tirap District

An NSCN-IM cadre has surrendered in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tirap district, marking another step in the region’s peace-building process. On April 24, 2026, SS Lieutenant Thinwang Deosa, 60, son of Late Wangphong Wangdong and a resident of Sanliam village under Lazu Circle, laid down arms before Tirap Police and the 44th Assam Rifles at the Superintendent of Police’s office in Khonsa.

During the surrender, Deosa handed over a 7.65 mm pistol of US make, one magazine, and seven live rounds of ammunition. Security officials noted that the act reflects the sustained efforts of the forces to restore peace, harmony, and development in Tirap district.

The development adds to the ongoing momentum of reconciliation in the area, emphasizing the effectiveness of continued engagement and persuasion by security agencies to encourage insurgents to return to the mainstream.
