Manipur Police have stepped up enforcement across multiple districts, arresting suspects and recovering drugs, arms, explosives and illicit items in a series of operations over the past few days.
On May 4, police arrested one Md. Sajid Khan (28) of Sangaiyumpham Mairenkhul Mayai Leikai from Sekmai Pangaltabi under Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West district. He was apprehended in front of a hotel near LNC and Son’s Filling Station. From his possession, 10,000 amphetamine (WY) tablets weighing about 1 kg, along with other incriminating articles, were seized.

In a separate operation on May 5, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from the foothills of the Chakma Hill range under Yairipok Police Station in Thoubal district.
The recovered items include a stun gun, one DBBL gun, one SBBL gun, a pistol with magazine, an improvised explosive device (IED) weighing approximately 2 kg, and an I-COM radio set.
Meanwhile, in an ongoing liquor drive launched on May 1 across Bishnupur district, Manipur Police seized 296 litres of DIC liquor, 10 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), and 5 litres of beer from various locations.
On May 5, police also arrested two individuals for illegally transporting petroleum products in a four-wheeler Eeco van (registration number MN01AG-9550). The arrested have been identified as Md. Rohid (23), the driver from Lilong Leihaokhong, and Md. Islao Rahaman (25), a passenger from Buya Salam Mathak Ahanbi Salam Mathak, Lilong, both in Thoubal district. Approximately 650 litres of petrol/diesel were recovered from the vehicle.

Further investigations are underway in all cases.
