Security forces arrested five active insurgent cadres belonging to different proscribed outfits in separate operations conducted across Chandel and Imphal East districts over the past two days.

On June 2, security forces apprehended four active cadres of KCP, KYKL and PREPAK from the general area of BP-67 near Khangtung village under Molcham Police Station in Chandel district.

The arrested individuals were identified as Mayanglambam Gandhi Singh (24) of Ningthoukhong Shantipur Ward No. 2 in Bishnupur district, an active cadre of KCP; Langpoklakpam Sushil Singh (25) of Khongjom Tekcham in Thoubal district, associated with PREPAK; Laitonjam Kanheiya Singh (26) of Khongjom Bazar in Thoubal district, linked to KYKL; and Kangjam Naresh Meitei (20) of Awang Leikai in Bishnupur district, also associated with PREPAK.

In another operation on June 3, security forces arrested an active cadre of PREPAK from Sawombung Khunjao near the Primary Health Centre under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal East district. The arrested cadre was identified as Thangjam Nganba Meetei alias Inao alias Leishabi (23) of Khurai Konsam Leikai under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district. A four-wheeler and other incriminating items were seized from his possession.

Meanwhile, during a separate search operation conducted on June 3 at Irilbung area under Irilbung Police Station in Imphal East district, security forces recovered a cache of arms and explosives from a hut.

The recovered items included two AK rifles, one SLR rifle, one 9 mm carbine, four hand grenades, two AK rifle magazines, one SLR magazine and 42 rounds of ammunition of different calibres.
