More than ten houses were completely gutted in a major fire that broke out late Wednesday night at Khoupum Bazar under Khoupum Sub-Division in Noney district, according to an official report.
The blaze reportedly started around 10:15 PM and spread rapidly across the locality, engulfing several residential structures. Preliminary findings suggest a possible electrical short circuit as the cause, though it is yet to be confirmed.
A team from the Manipur Fire Service, Noney, rushed to the spot and carried out firefighting operations with assistance from local residents and nearby villagers to bring the fire under control.
No casualties have been reported so far.
Authorities are assessing the extent of damage while further investigation into the incident is underway.
