Aizawl, May 5: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma met NITI Aayog member Dr. V. K. Paul in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the state’s development priorities and avenues for future collaboration. According to an official statement, Lalduhoma expressed appreciation for NITI Aayog’s continued support, noting tangible progress in sectors such as horticulture. He highlighted that Mizoram’s recognition as the “Ginger Capital of India” has begun to yield positive outcomes.

The chief minister emphasized Mizoram’s achievements, including being the first state declared fully literate, ranking among the cleanest and least corrupt states, and making significant strides in tourism promotion. He also emphasized Mizoram’s reputation as one of the most peaceful states in the country, pointing out that a peace agreement was recently reached with the last remaining armed group.

Dr. Paul commended the Mizoram government for its effective coordination with NITI Aayog and praised Lalduhoma’s leadership, noting that the state is widely regarded by others as a model of peace and stability. State Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who joined the meeting, participated in discussions on upcoming joint initiatives, including a Tourism Conclave to be organised in partnership with NITI Aayog. Officials confirmed that a pre-conclave meeting will take place later this month in New Delhi to finalise plans.

During the discussions, NITI Aayog officials outlined measures to strengthen Mizoram’s tourism policy, facilitate free training under the Institute of Hotel Management Ashok (IHM-A), and attract investors to the tourism sector, reinforcing the state’s agenda for sustainable development and growth.
