Aizawl, June 5: Health & Family Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii graced the Asset Handing Over Ceremony at Zoram Medical College & Hospital (ZMC&H) as the chief guest, marking a significant step in strengthening Mizoram’s healthcare infrastructure. Organized by the Medical Superintendent of ZMC&H, the event celebrated the donation of critical care equipment and an Advanced Life Support Ambulance under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

In her address, the Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to IOCL for its contribution worth ₹62,38,548, which included a C-Arm Machine, a Diathermy Machine, and the ambulance. She emphasized that these assets represent more than just equipment they are investments in saving lives, enhancing emergency response, and advancing surgical capabilities in the state. Lalrinpuii also underscored the urgent need for a dedicated Neurosurgery Unit in Mizoram, noting that many patients are forced to seek treatment outside the state. She revealed that a proposal for such a unit has already been prepared and invited IOCL to extend its support in realizing this vision.
Guest of honour Malati Malakar, Chief Manager (HR-CSR) of IOCL, described the occasion as a milestone in Mizoram’s healthcare journey. She reiterated IOCL’s commitment to the development of the North Eastern States, highlighting that the corporation consistently contributes beyond the mandated two percent of profits under CSR guidelines. Malakar affirmed IOCL’s dedication to sustaining its partnership with Mizoram and encouraged the community to continue viewing healthcare as a fundamental right.
The newly donated C-Arm Machine will bolster services in Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology, and Trauma Care, while the Diathermy Machine will enhance surgical safety and efficiency. The Advanced Life Support Ambulance will provide faster and safer transport for critically ill patients, ensuring treatment during transit.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Zoramthanga Zadeng, Director of ZMC&H, in the presence of IOCL officials and medical staff.
