Continuing the series of surprise inspections across government offices, Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton visited several departments in Wokha on Friday.
The offices inspected included the Horticulture Office, Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), District Planning & Machinery Office, and Land Resources Office. During the visit, a total of 12 staff members were found absent. The Horticulture Department recorded one absentee out of eleven staff, PHED had one absentee from thirty-two staff, Planning & Machinery reported five absentees out of fourteen, and the Land Resources Office had five absentees from seventeen staff members.
The Deputy Chief Minister was accompanied by Wokha Deputy Commissioner Vineet Kumar IAS, Superintendent of Police Relo Aye, and representatives from Lotha Hoho and Lotha Students’ Union, including their Presidents Mhondamo Ovung and Lirhonthung Kithan.
Addressing the issue, Yanthungo Patton acknowledged that while many staff members perform their duties diligently, even a few unjustified absences can affect public service delivery. He emphasized the importance of discipline and accountability in all departments to ensure citizens receive their due services. He also stated that such inspections will continue to promote a culture of responsibility and transparency within the government machinery.
