Kohima, May 23: The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a weather advisory forecasting thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds in several parts of the state until May 25.
According to the advisory, districts including Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, and Mokokchung are likely to experience heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 kmph on May 23 and 24. Mon, Longleng, Tuensang, and Zunheboto districts may also witness thunderstorms with lightning during the same period.
On May 25, thunderstorms with lightning are expected at isolated places in Peren, Dimapur, Kohima, Wokha, Mokokchung, Longleng, and Mon districts.
The advisory stated that no weather warning has been issued for Phek, Kiphire, Zunheboto, and Tuensang districts. Weather conditions are expected to remain generally stable across Nagaland on May 26.
