Agartala, April 21, 2026: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday took part in the Prana Pratishtha ceremony of the Maa Chinmayi Soundarya Temple at Mohanpur in West Tripura, marking a major spiritual event in the region.
The event held at Fakira Mura, witnessed the presence of several Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma, and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha. The ceremony coincided with the celebration of Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti.
Sharing his experience on X, Chief Minister Saha said that he participated in the consecration and Kumbhabhisheka rituals in the presence of Mohan Bhagwat. He noted that the temple houses a striking 15-foot idol of Maa Soundarya Chinmoyee, sculpted from a single granite stone and installed within the Chinmaya Mission School campus.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the temple premises is encircled by 27 pillars engraved with verses from Soundarya Lahari, composed by Adi Shankaracharya. He remarked that the site would inspire spiritual awareness and promote deeper reflection on humanity’s connection with the universe.
Amit Rakshit, President of the Chinmaya Seva Trust under Chinmaya Mission International, informed that both Prana Pratishtha and Kumbha Abhishekam were performed following traditional rituals. He described the temple as a distinctive spiritual structure dedicated to Maa Tripura Sundari.

According to him, the temple has been constructed using 27 black stone pillars brought from Tamil Nadu, symbolising the 27 Nakshatras of Hindu astrology. Uniquely, the structure does not have a conventional roof, signifying an open link between the devotee and the divine. Alongside the main idol, a smaller replica inspired by the Tripura Sundari Temple has been placed for daily puja.

The temple premises also features inscriptions of Saundarya Lahari and other sacred texts, adding to its religious and cultural importance. Priests from Nepal conducted the rituals, ensuring adherence to traditional practices.
The consecration ceremony is seen as a landmark moment for Tripura, with Fakira Mura expected to develop into a significant hub for spirituality, culture, and devotion in the coming years.
