The Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM) has called on the Manipur government to take immediate and decisive steps to restore peace, asserting that inclusive dialogue, strict enforcement of law, and collective action against anti-peace elements are “non-negotiable.”

In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand on the occasion of the 3rd Manipur Peace Day, the organisation stressed the need for structured engagement involving all 36 recognised communities in the state. It questioned the absence of direct interaction facilitated by the government among communities and underscored the importance of people-to-people dialogue to rebuild trust and reduce ethnic mistrust.

TIM maintained that anti-peace forces must be identified and dealt with through coordinated efforts between the government and pro-peace groups, warning against any tolerance for elements threatening coexistence and the integrity of the state. It proposed a five-point roadmap, including formal identification of all communities, recognition of legitimate representatives, initiation of inclusive dialogue, equal enforcement of law, and ensuring safe and unrestricted movement of citizens.

The organisation also expressed concern over what it termed selective engagement, continued instability in certain areas, and restrictions on civilian movement, pointing to a growing trust deficit. It emphasised that neutrality and fairness must be reflected through consistent action across both hill and valley regions.

Referring to the Chief Minister’s earlier statement that dialogue remains the only solution, TIM said the process must be transparent, comprehensive, and inclusive of all communities without bias, noting that the situation in Manipur has reached a critical stage requiring a clear stand for peace and unity.

TIM also appreciated Thadou communities and churches worldwide for observing Manipur Peace Day, stating that the collective observance reflects solidarity and commitment to peace efforts. It reiterated that lasting peace in the state will depend on decisive, inclusive, and accountable governance.
