Agartala, May 06, 2026: A new phase in the administrative functioning of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council commenced on Wednesday with the swearing-in of new leadership at the Council Bhawan in Khumulwng. Runiel Debbarma assumed office as the Chief Executive Member (CEM), while Chandra Kumar Jamatia was sworn in as an Executive Member (EM).
Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Runiel Debbarma said that ensuring holistic development of the ADC areas would be the foremost priority of the new administration. He assured that he would carry out the responsibilities entrusted to him with sincerity, dedication, and integrity, emphasizing that the welfare of the Tiprasa community remains at the core of their governance agenda.

The newly sworn-in CEM highlighted that despite financial constraints, several developmental initiatives have been undertaken across ADC areas over the past five years. However, he acknowledged that multiple challenges still persist and need to be addressed.

Underscoring the need for greater financial support, Debbarma stated that enhanced funding is crucial for resolving existing issues. He added that he would appeal to both the Central Government and Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha for additional financial assistance to accelerate development in the region.
