Agartala, June 17, 2026: In the run-up to International Yoga Day on June 21, a special Yoga session was organized on Wednesday involving officials from the Fisheries, SC Welfare, and Animal Resources Development (ARD) departments, along with representatives from the Veterinary Doctors’ Association and Fisheries offices.
Tripura’s ARD, Fisheries and SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das highlighted the significance of Yoga and its growing global recognition. He noted that International Yoga Day, observed worldwide, gained prominence after the initiative of the Prime Minister of India in 2015, bringing global attention to India’s ancient wellness practice.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister Das said, “The primary objective of organizing this Yoga session was to convey the message that Yoga is not merely for physical well-being; it also fosters mental growth and mental balance.”

He added that the initiative aimed to encourage officials of the three departments to adopt Yoga in their daily lives and embrace it positively. The Minister expressed his gratitude to all participants and extended special thanks to the staff, Directors, and Secretaries of the departments for supporting the initiative.
Calling Yoga a powerful tool for overall well-being, he urged everyone to practice it regularly and spread awareness about its importance across society.
